New Zealand’s best chocolate is said to have been made in a factory in Japan.
A company that makes the New Zealand variety, known as Japans handmade chocolate, said it had tasted the “most delicious chocolate” it had ever tasted.
It said it was based in the town of Nara, in the central Japanese province of Kanagawa, and that it was working on a chocolate bar.
It had been sent to a chocolate company in Japan by a customer, who had ordered it at a store in the United States, the company said in a statement.
It was the first time Japana had tasted a product made in Japan and was the “best chocolate ever”, it said.
The New Zealanders best chocolate was made in Nara with “a very high quality, high-grade chocolate, from the highest quality Japanese chocolate,” the company’s website said.
“We are pleased to be able to say that this New Zealand brand is the only chocolate in the world to make this distinction,” it said, referring to the Guinness World Record for best chocolate.
The company’s site said it would release its own chocolate bar soon.
A Guinness spokeswoman said the company would not be commenting on the issue.
