A man from the Sunshine Coast has won $1.5 million in a chocolate auction.
The man, who cannot be named, had been competing in the International Chocolate Championship in London when he lost his bid to win the prize.
“I just didn’t want to be the one to give up on my dream, and I’m very thankful to all the people who helped me to achieve that,” the man said.
Auctioneer Peter Stansfield said the man had not won the coveted prize before, but had been trying for years.
“The auction was not his idea and we couldn’t have made it happen without all the help of the people that supported us,” Mr Stansfeld said.
“We’re not sure what he’s going to do with it.”
The man won the first-place prize of $10,000.
He said he was looking forward to taking his chocolate to Australia.
“This is a chance for me to see my family, to see them again,” he said.
